Thomas McDonald
Tom obtained his PhD in Materials Science from the University of Manchester in 2008, specialising in responsive materials for biomedical applications. He then briefly worked from Unilever as a research scientist investigating the delivery of home and personal-care actives, before joining the University of Liverpool as a postdoctoral research associate working in Prof Rannard’s group, where he developed drug nanoparticles for the treatment of HIV/AIDS. Tom joined the Cooper group in 2012 as part of the staff in the Centre of Materials Discovery. His current projects focus on using automated synthesis platforms for the synthesis of porous materials.
Tom’s research interests include high throughput synthesis and screening, responsive materials, colloid science, drug delivery and biomaterials.
