Padraig O'Connor
Pádraig (Paudy) joined the Cooper group in Janurary 2013 as a postdoctoral research associate. He is part of a BP funded industrial partnership working towards the design and synthesis of novel smart-materials for specific applications.
He has an honours degree in analytical chemistry with quality assurance from Cork Institute of Technology. After his degree Padraig spent 2 years travelling and working throughout Australia and South-East Asia before beginning a PhD in the University of Ireland, Galway in 2008.
His Phd research was mainly concerned with, heterogeneous, nitroxide mediated radical polymerizations in supercritical carbon dioxide. This work involved close collaborations with Kobe University, Japan and with Prof Per B. Zetterlund in the Centre for Advanced Macromolecular Design, University of New South Wales.
