Isil joined the Cooper Group as a Knowledge Exchange Scientist in 2024. After obtaining her bachelor and master's degrees in Istanbul, Isil completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering at University College London, UK. Her research focused on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for water remediation applications. She joined the group of Prof. Omar Farha as a visiting scholar at Northwestern University, USA in 2017 during her PhD. After completion of her PhD, she started working as a research fellow within the advanced materials research group at the University of Nottingham, UK under the EPSRC-funded Adventurous Manufacturing Project. Isil then moved to Evanston, IL, USA to join the research groups of Prof. Sir Fraser Stoddart and Prof. Omar Farha at Northwestern University as a post-doctoral fellow. Her post-doctoral research focused on synthesizing MOFs under mild conditions and in-situ encapsulating of enzymes within MOFs. Following her post-doctoral research, Isil spent working in a start-up before joining the Cooper Group.
