The Book of Isaiah- Chapters 24-39

Monday, 1.30-3.30pm

Start Date

28 April, 2025

There will be 6 weekly meetings on Monday 1.30-3.30pm, starting from 28 April.

Overview

This course is the second of three on this big book and will focus on chapters 24-39. The section begins with the distinctive "Isaiah Apocalypse" in chapters 24-27 and ends with a historical account that parallels the Second Book of Kings about the actions of the prophet Isaiah at the time of the Assyrian invasion of 701BCE.

The aim of the course is to provide participants with the academic, theological and literary tools to engage seriously with the text of Isaiah. Each week will cover 2 or 3 chapters in English but with occasional references to the Hebrew text to explain issues of translation or interpretation.

The class is open to anyone, and no previous knowledge is required. People of all faith traditions and none are welcome but should be prepared to engage with the lively discussions that ensue as we work through the text verse by verse and chapter by chapter.
