Overview
If you have ever imagined your written words coming to life on screen, then this is the short course for you. Join writer and director Dr Bernadette McBride for this 1-day course, looking at the adaptation process and fiction-to-film fundamentals such as visualisation, funding, editing, working with and connecting with others, post-production, and pitching to film festivals and other networks. Participants will work on a main piece of their own on the day to develop key ideas for adapting written work for film. You can work on a past piece of written work or develop a new one with the intention of adaptation for screen.
Bernadette is a member of Women in Film and TV (WFTV). Bernadette is the author of Roots: Eco-Journal (2019), her short fiction has appeared across several anthologies, and her short story "Sea Monster" has been translated into the Irish language for a short film adaptation shot on the Aran islands, Ireland (March 2024).
