Overview
Embark on a literary journey with writer and creative practitioner Dr Bernadette McBride in our immersive one-day writing workshop. Join Bernadette as she guides participants through a thought-provoking exploration of Everton Brow, one of Liverpool's renowned 'edges', where urban meets wild.
Drawing inspiration from the concept of 'edgelands' as eloquently described by writers Paul Farley and Michael Symmons Roberts in their seminal work, "Edgelands" (2011), attendees will delve into the rich tapestry of Liverpool's urban periphery. Everton Brow, with its intriguing blend of modern parkland and Victorian slum history, offers a unique vantage point to contemplate the city's sprawling urban landscape.
During the workshop, participants will hone their writing skills as they craft evocative prose and poetry inspired by the 'edgelands' experience. With Bernadette's expert guidance, you will learn techniques to capture the essence of these liminal spaces and translate your observations into compelling narratives.
No prior experience is necessary—all you need is a notepad and pen to capture your observations and insights. And the journey doesn't end there! As a special opportunity, attendees will have the chance to see their work collected in an upcoming anthology featuring writing produced by Liverpool Continuing Education's talented students. Don't miss this chance to explore the boundaries of creativity and contribute to a vibrant literary community. Join us for a day of discovery, reflection, and literary expression amidst Liverpool's captivating 'edgelands.'
