Volunteer Paddlers Needed for LCI Dragon Boat Race Team 2025

Published on

Join the LCI and University of Liverpool team as a volunteer paddler and celebrate an ancient Chinese tradition.

After last year’s success, LCI will be partaking in more Dragon Boat Races across the festival. This includes both the Lord Mayor’s Charity Dragon Boat Race and the Northwest CI Dragon Boat Race.

Why join?

The Dragon Boat festival is a significant traditional holiday celebrated in China and by Chinese communities worldwide. The festival is marked by the racing of dragon boats and the eating of zongzi, pyramid-shaped dumplings made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves.

By joining the LCI team as a volunteer paddler, you will be embracing a centuries-old tradition that celebrates cultural heritage and the spirit of community. Not only that, but you’ll experience the thrill of racing with a close-knit team.

Read about last year’s races on the LCI website, where LCI helped raise over £17,000 for Local Solutions at the Lord Mayor’s Chairty Dragon Boat Race.
