Shanghai's China Welfare Institute Youth Palace Visits LCI for Cultural Exchange

On January 21, 2025, the Liverpool Confucius Institute (LCI) team welcomed students from Shanghai's China Welfare Institute Youth Palace.
The Confucius Institute's Director, Dr Ding Peng, introduced the students to LCI’s events and educational activities. She also detailed the rich history of Liverpool and its deep connections with Shanghai. Liverpool is home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe.
Students were led through the institute's educational facilities and the memorial exhibition area, showcasing the institute's achievements and efforts in promoting Chinese culture and language education. The visiting team highly praised the educational philosophy and cultural atmosphere of the Confucius Institute.
In a gesture of goodwill, teachers from the Shanghai Youth Palace presented exquisite gifts to the institute.
One of which included a collection of Chinese paper cuttings crafted by the children from the Youth Palace. These intricate paper cuttings not only displayed their delicate craftsmanship but also embodied the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture, expressing the friendly ties between the two groups.
This visit not only deepened cultural exchanges between China and the UK but also built a platform for mutual learning and understanding among the youth from both locations.
We wish the students and staff from Youth Palace an enjoyable remaining trip to the UK.
