Common first year
All of our single honours programmes share a common first year made up of four compulsory modules:
- Communication, Culture, and Media Analysis
- Digital Communication and Social Media
- Introduction to Communication and Media Studies
- Media Industries and Institutions
Not only will studying these first year modules equip you with the foundational knowledge and skills to see you through the rest of your degree, but it also means that you have the opportunity to change to another one of our programmes at the end of Year 1. So, if you decide that you want to focus on a specific aspect of communication and media studies, you can opt to switch to the relevant programme. Or you might want to take a broader look at the discipline by following the BA Communication and Media, where you’ll still have the flexibility to pursue modules that appeal to your particular interests.
