About

Personal Statement

I joined the Department of Communication and Media as a Lecturer in Data Science in September 2020. I have a background in mathematical and computational modelling, most recently working as a consultant in industry, and before that as a maths lecturer. I have a first-class honours degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Bristol, a PhD in computational biology from the University of Sheffield, and diverse post-doctoral research experience, including in crop and soil science at the University of Aberdeen.

My research interests focus on how public opinion and social norms spread and change through peer influence. I mainly use theoretical modelling and simulation in my research, but I also have interests in data analysis and data visualisation.

My teaching responsibilities are in computer programming, data science and data visualisation for communication and media.
