With live piano accompaniment by Stephen Horne

Tue 13 May 2008, 7-9 pm

St George’s Hall, Liverpool

The BFI’s Mitchell & Kenyon Collection, consisting of 28 hours of early silent film footage, provides an unparalleled visual record of Edwardian Britain.

This special programme shows Liverpool as it was in 1901, with unique footage of its bustling docks, crowded streets, electric trams and early football matches. The screening will take place in the magnificent surroundings of St George’s Hall where the films were first seen over a hundred years ago.

Presented by Dr Julia Hallam (University of Liverpool) and Professor Vanessa Toulmin (University of Sheffield)
