About this course
Combined degrees provide an opportunity to study two subjects as part of the same course and develop your interests in multiple areas. You’ll also enhance your employability and career options by gaining a wide variety of skills and expertise.
On this combined degree, you'll study 50% Film Studies and 50% Communication and Media.
See the Single Honours course page for each subject for more information on course content. Please note, the exact module choice available to you may differ from the Single Honours course.
Film Studies
You can take Film Studies as part of a combined degree. If you study Film Studies and another subject (50/50) you will take 60 credits in Film per year.
In year one you will take FILM101, FILM104, FILM102 and MUSI170.
In year two you will take 15 credits of required and 15 credits of optional Film Studies modules in each semester. FILM201 and FILM204 are the required modules.
In year three you will take 30 credits of optional Film Studies modules in each semester. In year three you may do a dissertation module in Film Studies or in your other joint subject (but not both).

Communication and Media
Media coverage represents the most important method for communicating key issues and developments in most subject areas to the wider world, so Communication and Media makes an excellent partner for 50:50 combinations with another subject of your choice. This means that you will find plenty of opportunities for crossover between your other subject and Communication and Media, but you will still study core modules from both. In Communication and Media, the full range of our modules will be open to you in years two and three.
