Clearing for international students

Our Clearing places have been filled and applications for 2026 entry are now closed. You can submit an application for 2027 entry today.

We welcome applications from high-achieving international students and encourage you to apply to join us at the University of Liverpool when applications open again in September.

International applicants may also be eligible for a tuition fee discount with a prestigious Liverpool Scholarship.

Who can use Clearing?

You're eligible for Clearing as an international student if:

  • You have your exam results
  • You have an English language qualification that meets our entry requirements
  • One of the following applies:
    • You haven't received any offers
    • You declined the offers you received
    • You didn't meet the conditions of the offer
  • You're applying after 30 June.

You can also apply through Clearing if you're already holding an offer. If you've changed your mind about your choice of university, or your results are better than you expected, you can use Clearing to explore your options.

You may be placed into Clearing automatically by UCAS if you meet the above criteria, or you can release yourself into Clearing through UCAS.

How to apply for Clearing at the University of Liverpool

  1. Browse the list of Clearing vacancies for international students once available
  2. Apply online when Clearing applications open
  3. We'll review your application and consider whether we're able to make you an offer
  4. If we make you an offer, you’ll get an email from us telling you what you need to do to accept it and confirm your place.

Accommodation

Once we’ve confirmed your place, you’ll be invited to apply for accommodation. The earlier you apply for accommodation the better, as our Halls of Residence and University-approved accommodation close to campus will fill up quickly.
