Peer mentoring

In addition to PAL, we operate another type of peer support for our undergraduates.

This is known as peer mentoring. Peer mentoring is a pastoral system designed to help the transition of new students into university life.

Like PAL, students from higher years help new undergraduates, but with the focus here being on non-academic guidance. Being new to the department, you would be assigned a mentor (each mentor would have 4-6 students) and they can help with adjusting to the new educational environment. Examples would be social event, getting to know the campus, advice on accommodation or simply finding out where the nearest bank is.
