Role of a PAL leader
PAL leaders are required to attend an initial training session, as well as additional training where possible. Leaders plan their PAL sessions and are not generally given plans from the academic PAL coordinators. This is achieved by gaining feedback from participants about what material they wish to discuss.
During PAL sessions, leaders will encourage students to engage in useful learning activities. Leaders will redirect questions back to the group of participants to encourarage active collaborative discussion between the participants. PAL leaders will also be responsible for relaying information back to the academic PAL coordinators.
Benefits of becoming a PAL leader
After being the recipient of our PAL scheme in the early years, students may wish to become a PAL leader later in their degree. By doing so, leaders can use their experiences to help newer students. Becoming a PAL leader helps:

- Improve skill sets such as communication, organisation, teamwork and leadership.
- Achieve a deep understanding of chemistry
- Enhance your employability by adding various skills to your CV.
