About
Dr Hoang Nguyen joined the Cooper Group as a Research Fellow in 2024, contributing to the EPSRC Prosperity Partnership - Cleaner Futures project. His work focuses on developing next-generation materials for consumer products, leveraging robotics and AI to accelerate the shift from petrochemical-based processes to renewable and sustainable alternatives.
Hoang completed his PhD at LUT University, Finland, under the supervision of Prof. Tuomo Sainio. His doctoral research centered on producing oligosaccharides with a controlled degree of polymerisation from oat beta-glucan using an integrated reactor-separator system. After completing his PhD, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Process Intensification Group at Newcastle University from 2020 to 2024. There, he collaborated with Prof. Anh Phan to develop a framework for sustainable aerogels and worked with Prof. Adam Harvey to transition industrial batch chemistries to continuous processes using oscillatory baffled reactors.
His research interests include mathematical modelling of chemical reactions, reactor technology, and the integration of robotics in chemistry laboratories to advance sustainable solutions.
