It’s built within an organisation-wide Microsoft Team, with separate channels for different areas of conversation relating to how staff make use of our new VLE. There are also channels set aside for special events including the weekly ‘Canvas & Coffee’ meetings – see below.

Canvas & Coffee
Canvas & Coffee is a live community event taking place every Wednesday morning between 11-12 within Canvas Connect, facilitated by members of CIE. We have a rolling schedule of themed sessions looking at specific educational approaches within Canvas, interspersed with informal drop-ins. Expect a lot of community interaction, ‘show-and-tell', and a lot of sharing of problems and shared solutions between practitioners. No booking required! Just drop-in.
Invites are sent out for the upcoming Canvas & Coffee on a week-by-week basis, so once you join Canvas Connect you will receive these reminders to your email automatically. But you can also just join the live meeting through the Canvas & Coffee channel of Canvas Connect during the session times (you’ll see that a live meeting is in progress).
For more information about the ethos and setup of the Canvas Connect community of practice, see this interview with its founders Will Moindrot and Dr Tya Asgari (behind University login).
Get involved
We absolutely depend upon community engagement. Members always feed back that they get immense value from the insight the community gives into others’ practice. So if you have an idea for something you would like us to cover, or even to present on it yourself to raise awareness or get feedback, then please drop us a message in the Canvas & Coffee channel or email cie@liverpool.ac.uk.
Recordings of past Canvas & Coffee
All of the themed Canvas & Coffee are recorded. An index of past sessions with descriptions and recording links can be found here: Index of C&C Sessions (university members of Canvas Connect only). This link will only work once you have joined Canvas Connect.
