Clinical Bingo

Clinical Bingo is a digital game inspired by the classic game of bingo, but instead of numbers, it uses clinical lingo phrases.

It's used to help international students studying health professions, familiarise themselves with the lingo that they may find on placement.

Other versions of the game replace the terms for other purposes, for example the ScLINGO varient uses Scouse phrases to help international pre-registration students , familiarise themselves with the Liverpool dialect.  This approach not only helps students learn the local dialect but also bridges the gap in communication within a new social and educational environment.

How to Play

Students scan a QR code to get a digital card populated with random Scouse phrases. The game calls out Scouse phrases and players check off the phrases on their digital cards. The game ends when a player's card has all the phrases checked off, and the player shouts “CLINGO”. After the game, a facilitator discusses each phrase and its meaning with the students.

The game is hosted online, it requires a whiteboard with access to a web browser to play open the bingo caller in a facilitated session, users can access bingo cards via a web browser on mobile or computer. It is built using HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
