Drug-induced liver injury

Our work in this area investigates the mechanisms of intracellular and intercellular events so that we can better predict, manage and diagnose acute and chronic drug induced liver injury (DILI).

To achieve this, we continue to develop translational cell-specific and mechanism–based biomarkers, alongside model systems which have a well-defined physiological, pharmacological and immunological phenotype.

We explore how chemical and human (genetic and phenotype) factors influence the roles of adaptation, energy balance, degeneration and regeneration in DILI.
