Crown Place opens its doors to students

The University of Liverpool’s £62 million accommodation site, Crown Place, will open its doors for the first time to students this week.
Home to 1,259 ensuite rooms with communal lounges, the building has a sustainable and energy efficient design as part of the University’s overall commitment to making the campus environmentally friendly.
The development forms part of an overall £230 million investment in new accommodation. The first phase saw Vine Court, on the corner of Myrtle Street, open in September 2012 with 749 en-suite rooms, as well as restaurant and retail outlets.
Students will arrive at Crown Place during Welcome Week, where they will be greeted with a packed programme of events, talks and activities, many of which will be taking place in the newly refurbished Liverpool Guild of Students building, which is opening this week following a multi-million pound investment.
Welcome Fairs
The Welcome Fairs will take place from 10am until 4pm on Thursday, 25 September and Friday, 26 September in the Guild, and both new and returning students can go along to find out how to get involved in all that university life offers and what societies, sports, activities, events and volunteering opportunities are available throughout the year.
Additional investment in the University’s off-campus accommodation will see the development of new residences at its Greenbank site at Mossley Hill, providing a self-contained student village including catering and sports facilities. The University’s historic 18th Century Greenbank House which was left to the University by the Rathbone family, will also benefit from a £5 million investment.
Registration drop-in sessions during Welcome Week will take place in the Central Teaching Laboratories but students can also confirm their attendance on a campus computer or by visiting Liverpool Life on their own device via the University Wi-Fi. Registration for new students is already open, and returning students can confirm their attendance from 20 September.
