School of Psychology Careers Week

The COIVD-19 pandemic has impacted the availability of graduate jobs and the methods employers are using to recruit.
Rest assured that leading employers are still on the lookout for talented individuals but competition for roles is high. Now more than ever it’s vital to take control of your own employability and Psychology Careers Week is here to help!
Explore career options and make valuable connections who will share tips and advice on what you need to succeed. A list of sessions is provided below. Monday 16th November 2pm – 3pm: “I don’t know what to do with my psychology degree!”
Be introduced to a range of possible career options and receive advice for developing a career plan and making career decisions. This is a great session to attend before connecting with alumni and employers later in the week who will provide insights in to different occupations and what they involve. Book here.
Monday 16th November 3pm – 4pm: Psychology Alumni Panel
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet school of Psychology alumni who have been where you are today. They will share details of their own career paths and provide honest advice around making the most of your time at University and for securing a graduate job. Read alumni bios and book your place here.
Tuesday 17th November 2pm – 4pm: A Spotlight on Psychology roles in the NHS
The NHS train and recruit for a variety of psychological professions including psychological wellbeing practitioners, psychotherapists and psychologists in areas from clinical to counselling. Join representatives from different NHS Trusts who will discuss their own career paths and will share details of opportunities for Psychology graduates to join their teams. Wednesday 18th November 2pm - 4pm: Career Insights Panels
The panels will be representing a range of sectors including homelessness services, police force intelligence, probation services, neurodiversity consultancy and more. Panellists will provide insights in to roles within their organisations and what the work really involves. You’ll receive tips for making successful applications too.

Thursday 19th November 2pm – 3pm: Meet the Psychologists Spotlight Panel
We have invited Psychologists from various areas including occupational, forensic and clinical to come and discuss their own career paths and provide insights into their field. For Psychologist bios and to book, click here.
Thursday 19th November 3pm – 4pm: Meet the Psychologists Q&A
After our panel of Psychologists have shared their insights, you'll have the chance to attend small group sessions in breakout rooms led by two Psychologists at a time for twenty-minute Q&A sessions. Book here.
Friday 20th November 3pm – 4pm: Your questions answered - Meet the PhD students
Interested in going on to postgraduate study? Well this is the perfect session to get answers to any niggling questions from those who have done it. Current UoL PhD students will answer questions regarding PhD applications, a ‘day in the life’ as a researcher, making the most of postgrad study and anything else you are wondering about. Psychology students are also able to book to attend a range of sessions taking place during Life Sciences Employability Week 23rd – 27th Nov including interactive skills sessions, additional employer panels and sessions on applying for postgraduate study.
