Find out more about their best experiences whilst studying and what they are most looking forward to in their new roles.

Aditi

My name is Aditi and I am currently studying a postgraduate programme at the University of Liverpool Management School. My programme is called MSc Occupational and Organisational Psychology.

What did you enjoy the most about your degree at the University of Liverpool?

The most enjoyable part of my degree at the University of Liverpool was my interactions with the academic staff. All the module leaders put in an extreme amount of time and energy in designing and delivering their modules and were ever so helpful to provide any additional feedback. All the academics involved in my programme are leading experts in the field that have helped in learning practical insights of Occupational and Organisational Psychology.

What has been your favourite experience whilst studying?

One of my favourite experiences whilst studying at the University of Liverpool has been my part-time role as International Student Ambassador. It has given me the opportunity to guide prospective students on various subjects related to student life. There are several fun aspects of my part-time job that involves writing blogs and even conducting campus tours!

What made you want to apply for the Graduate Intern role within Careers?

This particular Graduate Intern role within the Careers and Employability team was the most appealing to me because it involved a great deal of focus on international students, an audience I am quite familiar with. As someone who has been in their shoes, I can understand how navigating one’s employability journey as an international student in the UK can be tricky. The reason for applying to the Graduate Intern role simply was helping out international students to make the most out of their university experience and education.

What are you most looking forward to when starting the role?

As this is going to be my first ever full-time job, I am really looking forward to applying my academic knowledge and gaining some practical experience in the field. I am also looking forward to meeting with all my colleagues in the Careers and Employability team and learning from them.

Lucky

My name is Lucky and I studied a Masters of Biological and Medical Sciences.

What did you enjoy the most about your degree at the University of Liverpool?

Liverpool is a dynamic city and I enjoyed studying for my degree and being a part of such an encouraging and inspiring community.

What has been your favourite experience whilst studying?

I have been involved with numerous projects and programmes, both in curricular and extracurricular, and that was the best part. These programmes allowed me to build my self-esteem, make lifetime connections and friends, expand my network massively, and hugely contributed to my personal and professional development. Especially, the enterprise and entrepreneurship programme which was unique and invaluable experience.

What made you want to apply for the Graduate role within Careers?

I loved the entrepreneurial activities so much. They helped build my business in real-time. I couldn't be more grateful to be given the opportunity to share my knowledge, experience, and expertise in helping my fellow peers and graduates develop their own business ideas and help them get started with their entrepreneurial journey.

What are you most looking forward to when starting the role?

I am most looking forward to working with the Enterprise & Employability Team and building existing programmes and also creating new initiatives.

Lily-May

I am Lily-May and I studied Law with Philosophy at the University of Liverpool.

What did you enjoy the most about your degree at the University of Liverpool?

The thing I enjoyed the most about my degree was being able to spend three years in such an amazing city! I loved everything about Liverpool, the people, the shops, the vibrancy of the city, and of course I loved the university when I visited twice before moving here. Additionally, I loved how it is not too far away from my hometown and the fact that Liverpool is a small city was very appealing to me coming from a small town in North Wales, so the jump to living in a city wasn’t as scary as I thought. Another thing I enjoyed just as much if not more, was meeting the most amazing people whilst at uni. I really have met my best friends and I’m so lucky to have met them.

What has been your favourite experience whilst studying?

My favourite experience whilst studying is being a part of the University Korfball Club. I had never even heard of Korfball before university, so when I saw the stall for it in freshers week, I knew straight away I wanted to give it a go. Since joining in first year, I have made even more friends, attended many AU nights, and had the opportunity to play for the BUCs team during my third year. We travelled to Lancaster and then Cardiff competing. It was so much fun being surrounded by the loveliest people whilst playing a new found love for the sport!

What made you want to apply for the Graduate Intern role within Careers?

I wanted to apply for the Graduate Intern role within Careers as I thought it was be the perfect next step for my career. Like many students, leaving university felt daunting, so having my first job at the university felt quite comforting and means I can still have an extra year at the university. The role also sounded perfect for me and it was exactly what I wanted to go into.

What are you most looking forward to when starting the role?

The thing I’m most looking forward to when starting the role is facing the many new challenges the role will bring and how these challenges will help progress my skills. I am also really looking forward to meeting all the team and just getting stuck in!

Jack

I’m Jack and I studied Biological Sciences.

What did you enjoy the most about your degree at the University of Liverpool?

The thing I enjoyed the most about my degree was that most of my lectures were taught by their respective experts in the university with guest lecturers when appropriate. This helped keep the content interesting as the lecturers were always excited to talk about their own subject.

What has been your favourite experience whilst studying?

I think my previous role as a digital coach within the university has to have been my favourite experience. The experience allowed me to work around my studies, built my confidence, and meet fellow students as well as the other digital coaches who I am still friends with today.

What made you want to apply for the Graduate Intern role within Careers?

During my role of digital coach, I met many of the careers team who were all so nice and served such a valuable role within the university. I found that I loved teaching and helping students and the university careers team seemed like an ideal place to start as a recent graduate to explore this option.

What are you most looking forward to when starting the role?

The graduate transitions team that I will be working within is a new team that is focused on helping final year and alumni with preparing for the next steps after leaving university. This is support I felt like I lacked in my final year so I feel really excited and proud to be part of a team that will be specifically helping face these sorts of problems that I struggled with myself.
