I Got Hired: Freya Hunter

Posted on: 29 November 2024 by Ruby O'Sullivan in Class of 2023

Freya Hunter is a Class of 2023 Law graduate who is now working as a Serious and Catastrophic Injury Paralegal at CFG.

How did you hear about your role and decide to apply for it?

I heard about my role through LinkedIn, and applied for a job as a serious injury paralegal as I knew I wanted to help people who have sustained serious injuries with their claims.

How did you get to where you are now?

I have always had a strong passion for personal injury law. Learning about tort law and further tort at university really helped solidify this interest and really motivated me to join this area of law.

Your favourite experience in your role?

I love getting to meet and learn all about new clients, but my favourite part of my job is reaching settlement for our client's and knowing that the work that we have done has really assisted them in getting their lives back on track.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

I think the peer pressure of seeing other people in my cohort with training contracts was a big challenge for me, but learning to take things at my own pace really helped me learn to love the legal profession.

Top 3 Tips for current students and graduates:

  1. Take things slow! Don’t feel pressured to follow your peers, if you want to qualify post-degree alongside working a full-time job this is perfectly okay.
  2. Study – and never leave things until the last minute!
  3. Enjoy yourself! University is one of the best experiences you can have, so make the most of it! Make friends by sitting next to people in lectures and engage in social activities! It makes the work you are doing that much more enjoyable.
