Adnan Yusuf is a Class of 2023 Financial Computing graduate who now works as a Project Manager at Epic Systems.

How did you hear about your role and decide to apply for it?

I found the role on Handshake - I applied as I was interested in entering the HealthIIT sector.

How did you get to where you are now?

I had some prior experience in customer service and site supervisor which helped. The interview process consisted of a phone interview, online assessments, 3 virtual interviews and a presentation.

Your favourite experience as part of your role?

One of my favourite experiences in my role has been witnessing patients receive effective treatment through the software I helped implement. Seeing the tangible impact of my work on patient care has been incredibly rewarding.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

The most challenging part of my university journey was having my first and second years online due to COVID-19. I overcame this by regularly checking in with classmates and forming study groups to share knowledge and support each other.

Top 3 Tips for current students and graduates.

  1. Begin planning your postgraduate career from your first year, even if you end up changing your mind multiple times.

  2. Utilize internships and work experiences to determine if a particular career is a good fit for you.

  3. Don't hesitate to reach out to professionals on LinkedIn who are in your desired field or company; you'll find that people are often more willing to help than you might expect.
