I Got Hired: Software Engineer at JP Morgan Chase

Yaroslav Shiroki is a Class of 2022 BSc Computer Science graduate, now working as a Software Engineer at JP Morgan Chase.

I found my current role via Linked. There were lots of interviews and practice coding questions in the recruitment process.

In my current role my favourite thing I’ve been part of so far was our ‘Top Talker’ project. Straight away that was very successful, helping traders, using artificial intelligence, data mining and big data analytics to minimise missed trades.

My advice to current (computer science) students:

"1) Apply for internships, hackathons and jobs as soon as possible – in your first year if you can

2) Practice coding questions in your spare time

3) Apply for the best jobs, especially the ones you think you don’t deserve! You will be the worst judge of your own level.
