I Got Hired: Graduate Transmission and Distribution Engineer at AECOM

Ryan Butler is a Mechatronics and Robotic Systems with Semester in Industry and Semester in China graduate, now working as a Graduate Transmission and Distribution Engineer at AECOM.

How did you get to where you are now?

After studying at Liverpool I did a masters at the University of Leeds and applied for jobs meanwhile.

What has been your best experience as part of your role?

Getting to work on projects that make a huge difference to the global transition to net zero energy.

What has been the most challenging part of your graduate journey?   

Maintaining a good work life balance while still achieving what I set out to do.

What are your top tips for other students and graduates?             

1. Follow your interests, not just the best salary.

2. Find a problem or area that motivates you outside of your interest in the subject matter.

3. Work hard.
