Digital Skills: Vaishali

Vaishali Panwar is an international student studying for an MSc in Marketing. She has taken part in a number of our Digital Skills sessions and shares her experience here.

Hi, I'm Vaishali Panwar, I am the course representative for Marketing 2023-24 and have actively participated in various university extra-curricular activities, earning the MSc Extra-curricular Award and HEAR accreditation for my active participation in the digital skill session.

Navigating university life goes beyond textbooks and lectures—it's about acquiring practical skills and experiences that prepare you for future challenges.

At our university, there are Digital Skills workshop organised by the Careers and Employability and delivered by a team of Digital Coaches. These offer a gateway to personal growth and professional readiness across are range of subject.

This is what I’ve gained from participating in the sessions over the course of the last year:


Diverse Learning Opportunities

From Social Media Marketing strategies to Data Analytics insights and Graphic Design essentials, the Digital Skills Sessions catered for a wide range of interests and academic pursuits. Whether you're studying engineering, humanities, or business, these workshops provided hands-on learning experiences that complement classroom teachings.

 

Integrating Theory with Practical Application

One of the key benefits of these sessions has been their ability to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world practice. As a student, I've had the opportunity to apply concepts learned in class to practical scenarios. This approach not only deepens understanding but also enhances confidence in tackling real-world challenges.


Guidance and Mentorship

Guidance from the experienced digital coaches has been invaluable on my journey. Their mentorship extends beyond technical skills, offering insights into industry trends and professional development. Whether learning to code, designing marketing campaigns, or analysing data, their support has been instrumental in my growth.


Earning HEAR Accreditation

Completing seven or more digital sessions also grants HEAR accreditation, a valuable addition to any academic transcript. This recognition showcases commitment to continuous learning and practical skill development, enhancing employability and demonstrating readiness for the job market.


Real-World Application through Practical Exercises

Engaging in practical exercises with group work, like the Instagram campaign for GUILD Freshers, provided invaluable experiential learning. These simulations prepared me for to create post reaching wider audience to join Freshers which enhanced my strategic thinking and execution skills.


My Takeaway

As I continue my university journey, I am confident that the skills and experiences gained from digital sessions will continue to shape my academic and professional growth. Whether pursuing further studies or entering the workforce, these sessions have equipped me with essential tools for success.
