Using the Sir Peter Rigby Centre for Enterprise

The Sir Peter Rigby Centre for Enterprise is located in the Foundation Building alongside our award-winning Career Studio. The Careers and Employability team, Research Partnerships and Innovation team, and the Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship work collaboratively to ensure the Centre delivers a seamless ecosystem of support for enterprise, innovation, and employability, enabling students, staff, and businesses to thrive.

The long-term vision for the Centre is that it becomes an incubator for student start-ups, as well as being open to our graduate community, and a hub to accelerate new business development for the Liverpool City Region.

What's in the space?

The Sir Peter Rigby Centre is a dynamic shared workspace, which offers amenities for many different users to make the most of. There are a range of different tools and spaces within the Centre that you can use to improve your own enterprise and entrepreneurial skills, as well as making your dreams a reality and giving your own small business a start.

In the Centre itself, you will find, among other facilities: 

  • Our new start-up zone
  • Large meeting tables and screens
  • Private meeting booths
  • Bookable boardroom space
  • Meeting rooms
  • Podcasting and media suite.

The Centre also hosts an open plan workshop area, which can be used for all types of group session, as well as a self-serve coffee station for when you need a little break from those meetings and ideation sessions.

How can you use the Centre?

With a number of facilities on site, the Sir Peter Rigby Centre is designed to help everyone from current students to alumni and members of our wider Liverpool community grow their skills and build their business. Find out how you can use the Centre and get the most out of the available facilities.

Students

During term time, you can work alongside members of the Careers and Employability Entrepreneurship and Start-up team in designated co-working spaces, as well as using shared spaces to work on your business or hold meetings with co-founders or business connections in a professional environment.

If you're running your own start-up business, you will also be offered a start-up support package from the team at the Centre. This will include help with registering your business officially, as well as advice on how to plan for the future of your business.

If you're a user of the Centre, you are also encouraged to attend networking events and the new series of Entrepreneurs in Residence events, which can be booked on Handshake. If you're interested in working on your ideas, you can also attend regular one-on-one enterprise clinics, monthly entrepreneur meet-ups and business growth workshops. 

Graduates and alumni

As a graduate, you can use our shared spaces and bookable meeting rooms to hold meetings with partners and business connections in our professional surroundings. You can also book our suite of business facilities, including using our media suite and podcasting suite for content creation.

Alumni and graduates are also welcome to use the Centre for co-working and shared working purposes, accelerating your business development, boosting your own skills and building your network, while also inspiring our current students to achieve their goals in the future.

Employers and businesses

We welcome small businesses and employers to use the Centre and its facilities for networking, support and more.

SMEs in particular are invited to host sessions at the Centre for students, graduates and staff to help with skills and support their development in the future.

The Centre is also ideally set up for companies to host student internships, coaching and mentoring partnerships, and advice sessions on topics including legal, finance, bid writing, property and IP requirements.

University staff

As a member of staff, you can support University academic enterprise activity through the Centre, including engaging with University spin-outs.

Staff are also encouraged to raise awareness of the Centre amongst students to ensure they are fully aware of what the Centre has to offer.
