Partner Perspectives: Strawberry Field

Lynne Furlong, the Learning Hub Coordinator at Strawberry Field in Liverpool, discusses a recent translation project in collaboration with Modern Languages students.

Can you share a specific example of collaborating with us?

We are currently working with the Modern Languages team on a translation project, which involves UOL language students translating Strawberry Field marketing material into a number of different languages, with the aim to attract new international visitors to the centre.

What sets our team apart from other employer engagement teams?

Since reaching out to the Employer Connections Team, I have been continually impressed with the level of support that Jane and the team have offered to myself and my colleagues. Through our partnership, we have been introduced to a number of new ways for us to engage with UOL students that we were unaware of previously. So far, we have participated in panel talks, placement fairs and real-world challenges. All of these activities and initiatives have been invaluable in helping us spread the word about what Strawberry Field do and how students can get involved.

How do you hope to continue working with our team in the future?

We are looking to set up a new initiative with the Employer Connections Team, to provide support to UOL students who feel they have any barriers to gaining paid employment, via the Steps to Work Lite Programme. Again, Jane has been instrumental in setting up meetings to implement the programme, providing useful insights on how best to engage with the students. We hope this initiative will be implemented in the next couple of months and we are looking forward to strengthening our partnership with UOL and working with the students. We have seen great engagement from students and have taken on a number of students for our projects.
