Our Liverpool Interns programme is designed to connect students with small/medium-sized companies within the Liverpool City Region (and beyond), cultivating internships that enable you to enhance your employability and enable organisations to develop & grow their business.
Liverpool Interns is funded by the University of Liverpool & partners (including Santander Universities and the Higher Education Innovation Fund), and provides organisations with a bursary of up to £1,000 to fund flexible 80-hour internships for students.
The internships can be full-time & short-term (perhaps during holiday periods) or part-time & longer-term (perhaps alongside your studies) – the Employer Connections Team at Careers & Employability can help you identify suitable internships.
Liverpool Interns is HEAR-accredited (Higher Education Achievement Report) so engagement with the programme and completion of key actions will also provide you with a formal record of achievement to demonstrate to potential employers in the future.
Who can apply?
Liverpool Interns is currently open to University of Liverpool students in their second/penultimate/final year of study undergraduate study, and those on a postgraduate taught (Master's) programme.
How long are the internships?
All internships are for up to a total of 80 hours work and can be completed in two ways:
- Part-time around your current course commitments – we recommend a commitment of between 7-10 hours per week.
- Up to full-time outside of university term-time.
Many of the internships are often extended by the SMEs, and there is potential to extend your employment at the end of an internship experience, but only on request of your internship host.
Are the internships paid?
Yes. You will be paid a rate of £12.50 per hour for up to a total of 80 hours of work, with a maximum of £1,000.
When do the internships start?
Internships will be available throughout spring/summer 2025, following a launch in February. Start dates will vary according to the needs of individual SMEs and successful candidates.
