Focal point for virtual engineering technologies and expertise to
provide integrated solutions, enabling organisations to maximise
the business benefits of advanced modelling, simulation and
immersive visualisation technologies.
Working in partnership with industry, the Centre provides a range
of flexible virtual laboratories and factories which businesses can
access to evaluate emerging technologies and ‘de-risk’ their
implementation and integration.
The Centre provides a seamless link from fundamental research,
through technology evaluation and development, implementation,
training and ongoing customer support. Access to a broad
technology infrastructure, including state-of-the-art 3D immersive
visualisation and high performance computing (HPC) provides the
advanced engineering and high value manufacturing sectors with
significant innovation and collaborative opportunities.

Cell Consortium

A forum for scientists from different disciplines based in the
University and the Institute of Child Health, located at Alder Hey
Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. Research interests include many
aspects of stem cell biology, from investigating the fundamental
mechanisms regulating the differentiation of embryonic stem
cells to developing clinical applications for the treatment of
Hirschprung’s disease.
The Consortium is affiliated with the North West Embryonic
Stem Cell Centre and is a member of the North West of England
Stem Cell Network.

A partnership between the University and the Liverpool School
of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). It is one of four centres throughout
the UK established to support the Wellcome Trust’s Public Health
and Tropical Medicine fellowship schemes. This scheme facilitates
the recruitment and training of outstanding clinicians, in order to
maintain the UK’s strength in clinical tropical medicine. The Centre
can provide a UK base to support researchers engaged in projects
outside the UK.

Has a multidisciplinary team which collaborates with researchers
locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to identify genetic
predisposing factors for drug responses associated with a number
of disease areas. It focuses on areas which are important from
a public health perspective: anticonvulsant therapy in epilepsy;
inhaled steroids in children with asthma; acute coronary syndrome
and variability in response to treatments; non steroidal anti-
inflammatory drug (NSAID)-induced peptic ulceration; and the
toxicity and efficacy of drugs used to treat infections such as HIV.
Wood Park Farm – Tesco Dairy Centre

Set up in collaboration with Tesco as a national resource for farmers
and offers expertise in cattle lameness, fertility and calf health.
The Centre helps farmers to enhance the commercial benefits of
their work and also provides advice on animal health and welfare.
