PhD candidate Rossella Vingelli has recently had their article ‘Are Cyborgs Alive? Rethinking Life in a Posthuman Era’ accepted for publication in the Think journal (Cambridge University Press).
‘Are Cyborgs Alive? Rethinking Life in a Posthuman Era’ explores how technological entities like cyborgs challenge traditional definitions of life. Drawing from posthumanist thought, Actor-Network Theory, and Gaia hypothesis, the article examines whether adaptation and self-regulation—traits typically associated with biological life—might extend to hybrid entities that merge the organic and the artificial. This work contributes to a broader philosophical discussion on what it truly means to be alive in a posthuman world.
