Language, Data and Society (LANDS) research centre
The Language, Data and Society research centre is a unique, interdisciplinary centre of research expertise in language, corpus and computational linguistics, multimodal semiotics, (critical) discourse analysis and strategic communication.
LANDS brings together expertise in (computational) linguistics, semiotics and discourse and communication studies in order to critically examine issues and debates in different contexts of human interaction.
Recognising the opportunities and challenges that Big data, Artificial intelligence, and Digitisation entail for the study of language in society, the Centre will develop advanced methods for the data-driven analysis of a variety of discursive genres, ranging from education to online interactions and (strategic) communication.
Our research findings support the design and development of language practices and communicative interventions that mitigate social and cultural discrimination, facilitate trust in digital interactions, and promote a sustainable and inclusive society.
