What do you enjoy most about the course, and why?
What I enjoy most about the course is the opportunity to communicate with a diverse group of people. Through various group projects, I learn how to contribute effectively to a team, collaborate through compromise, and manage time efficiently. These experiences not only help me develop teamwork skills but also improve my speaking ability.
Can you tell us about an exciting project you have completed on your course?
One of the most exciting projects I completed was the Urban Room project for Salthouse Dock in my first year. Visiting the site in person was a great experience—seeing people engaged in different activities around the dock provided a lot of inspiration for my design. When creating the physical model for the project, I received valuable support from the technicians in the School of the Arts, which helped me refine my work. In the end, I was really satisfied with the final result, making this project a memorable and rewarding experience.
Can you tell us about the teaching methods/how your learning has been facilitated?
As an international student, the support from tutors and technicians has been incredibly valuable to me. Their guidance has helped me navigate challenges and gain a deeper understanding of my coursework. Additionally, having the opportunity to meet with tutors every week and sign up for one-on-one sessions has been a great help in working on my school projects. These regular interactions allow me to receive feedback, ask questions, and improve my work more effectively.
What extra-or co-curricular activities do you take part in, and how do these affect your student experience?
I participate in the Winter School project every year. Through this programme, I met one of my closest friends, and even after completing the project, we have remained in contact and spend a lot of time together. Beyond building friendships, the projects we worked on during Winter School have also deepened my understanding of my current course. The hands-on experience and collaborative environment provided valuable insights that complement my academic studies.
If you could go back, what advice would you have given yourself before going to University?
If I could go back in time, I would be more open to change and make the most of my student life. I would encourage myself to step out of my comfort zone, attend more social events, and actively expand my network. University is not just about academics—it's also about meeting new people, experiencing different perspectives, and creating lasting memories.
