Swedish Wood is part of the Swedish Forest Industries Federation and promotes the use of timber in the UK, working in close co-operation with Timber Development UK which represents timber trade and the industry’s intellectual property. They provide inspiration regarding timber products and construction and highlight its use as an environmentally sustainable material. Sweden currently accounts for over half of the UK’s timber imports and Swedish Wood works to support growth in the construction industry through a number of initiatives including the Fire Safety Portal, CLT handbook, RIBA CPD modules, engaging with UK industry bodies and insurers, as well as generally promoting wood as a low carbon construction method.
A prize is awarded to BA3 and MArch students for the most innovative use of timber in studio design projects.
