In October Dr Daveed Chow and Professor Steve Sharples combined a visit to the Department of Architecture at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University with attendance at the First International Conference on Sustainable Buildings and Structures, which was organised by the Department of Civil Engineering at XJTLU and the Department of Civil Engineering at Suzhou University of Science and Technology. Daveed presented the conference paper (The feasibility of retrofitting existing office buildings to combat energy consumption due to future climate change in three key regions of China, Chow DHC and Sharples S), which won the best paper in conference award from the organisers. Dr Chow is shown receiving the award.
