Our thesis proposal seeks to address the potential for the re-imagination of derelict industrial spaces in the UK. We have chosen a post industrial site, in this case a disused power station, and reactivated it with a new innovative and sustainable function.
The environmental conditions of London and the current global energy situation led us to pursue a sustainable narrative throughout the thesis design process. We chose to research alternative fuel technologies and new clean transport as a way of beginning the process of improving air quality in the city.
Our design consists of three main elements: the retrofitting of existing petroleum fuelled cars into hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the adoption of sustainable hydrogen energy production through a process of algae farming in the new park, the public interaction with the factory and the need to educate about a fresh approach to energy and transport.
