As an introduction to their semester-long design project, BA1 students were asked to create a short 90 second film within the Cultural Quarter of Liverpool.
They were asked to explore and make discoveries about this area and convey its genius loci. Their films sought to capture what they understood as the spirit of the place and/or what makes it distinctive, useful and memorable. The films needn’t be picturesque or highlight recognised architectural significance, but rather what they noticed, considered important and distinctive about the area. This year, we have been asking the students to collect and tell a stories with their design projects. Perhaps, it is no surprise then, that many of the films had a strong narrative and told a clear, distinct story.
