UrbanistasNW is a female led network, the core team is comprised of 7 architects who have come together with a shared ambition of playing an active role in shaping our cities and developing a more equitable and diverse working environment. We feel we can best do this collectively and collaboratively, supporting each other along the way. Whilst we are female led, we are not a women only group and our events are increasingly attracting more men.
Whilst 50% of students are female, only 28% of architects currently registered with the ARB are female. We are interested in why this is the case and how the balance could be redressed.
As we approach International Women’s Day, UrbanistasNW is excited to bring SHE-Builds NW to the University of Liverpool.
We will introduce the group, who we are, what we do and what our aspirations are. Then 4 members of the core team will each deliver a presentation lasting around 10mins which will cover our career, significant projects and life events that have been pertinent to shaping this. This will be followed by a discussion on current attitudes, experience, the changing face of the profession and the broader industry.
The chair will be Roxanne Kanda, the panel members will include:
Charlotte Hodges
Frances Phillips
Rachel Carter-Jones
Jess Spencer
