Supporting Learning in Professional Practice (Multi Professional Support of Learning and Assessment in Practice) (HEAL 443)

This module enables practitioners to develop their skills in supporting and assessing learning in a variety of settings. To develop knowledge and skills in facilitation of learning in a variety of settings.

Part time delivery, with the module delivered in one semester. The module runs in semester 1.

Who is the module for?

The module is designed for practising, registered healthcare professionals and can be taken as an optional module as part of a wider programme like an Advanced Clinical Practice MSc, or as a standalone option.

Module details and indicative content

Learns will explore the key aspects of the development of an effective learning environment in the mentor or educator role, and develop an appreciation of how knowledge of pedagogy underpins the facilitation of learning.

They will evaluate learning styles and consider how knowledge of this can facilitate learning and explore the concept of interprofessional working and learning in everyday working practice.

They will also analyse how cultural differences can impact upon facilitation of learning and the process of mentoring as well as reflect upon their own ability and role in facilitating learning.

How you are assessed

There is one summative assessment; a work portfolio.

To support summative assessment, there are opportunities to undertake formative assessment.
