Perspectives in Advancing Professional Practice (HEAL 442)

This module has been created to provide students with the opportunity to critically explore the key aspects which underpin nursing practice and to equip them with the critical thinking skills which will prepare them for the advancement of professional practice in their workplace.

Who is the module for?

The module is designed for registered nurses, and can be chosen as a standalone option to be used to support continuous professional development.

Module details and indicative content

Learners will evaluate and reflect upon the global, multidimensional issues that impact upon nurses and nursing, and critically explore the organisation of healthcare services and evaluate its impact on their own area of work.

You will also critique aspects of quality management and evaluate the implications of this for their own workplace, appraise the impact of leadership capability in healthcare and reflect critically upon your own personal development and how this will influence future practice.

How you are assessed

There are two summative assessments:

  • A 4500-word written assessment
  • 20-minute oral presentation
