Ethics, Culture and Values in Healthcare Practice (HEAL412)

This module has been designed to encourage learners to critically explore ethical, legal and social factors which contribute to, and impact upon the choices people make. Students will consider the nature and place of ethical decision making to enhance person-centred practice in a variety of settings.

Who is the module for?

The module is designed for practising, registered healthcare professionals. The module can be used to support continuous professional development.

Module details and indicative content

Learners will critically explore how knowledge of the evidence base underpins the facilitation of holistic person-centred care and discuss the key ethical principles underpinning clinical decision making.

They will also examine how a person's values, beliefs and cultural differences can impact upon their lifestyles, life choices and wellbeing.

Additionally, they will reflect upon their own personal and professional practice and development in relation to self-awareness and decision making and approaches in practice.
