The Fundamentals of Medical Image Interpretation (HEAL449)
This module will provide students with the underpinning theory and skills required to be able to interpret specified medical images according to their particular scope of practice.

Who is the module for?
The module is designed for practising, registered healthcare professionals and can be used to support continuous professional development.
Module details and indicative content
Learners will evaluate the underpinning evidence base that informs the legal, ethical and decision-making processes of medical image interpretation. You will also analyse and differentiate between normal and abnormal image appearances relevant to the defined anatomical regions in the module.
You will also be expected to evaluate the purpose of a medical image and determine its influence on patient management.
How you are assessed
There are two summative assessments:
- An analysis of a given clinical scenario
- An onscreen image viewing examination.
To support summative assessment, there are opportunities to undertake formative assessment.
