Module details and indicative content
Learners will evaluate the decision making, risk assessment and therapeutic intervention in relation to the management and holistic care of the patient receiving SACT.
You will also examine the professional policy, health and safety regulations and legal aspects relating to the administration of systemic anti-cancer therapy and reflect critically on own professional and clinical skill development.
Additionally, you will analyse the pharmacological properties of anti-cancer drugs and critically evaluate the physiological impact of systemic anti-cancer therapies including chemotherapeutic agents on individuals.
How you are assessed
There are three summative assessments:
- One practical assessment – completion of the SACT passport (or evidence of prior completion)
- A 1,500-word critical reflection
- A 90-minute written examination based on an Online Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) Clinical Scenario.
A placement may be required to support you with the completion of this. This can be undertaken in your place of work or at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. There is a minimum of 75 hours supernumerary to be completed as part of this. Please contact nicola.benson1@nhs.net to discuss this in further detail.
