Module details and indicative content
Throughout this module, you will critically appraise key principles of palliative and/or End of life care in the context of professional role, patient group and service, and apply an holistic approach to critically explore the broader impacts of living with progressive life-limiting disease or the prospect of dying.
You will also critically align ethico-legal considerations to specific clinical palliative and end of life care context and demonstrate critical application of own role in the context of enabling therapeutic approaches in care that aim to positively influence quality of life and well-being.
In addition, you will be expected to critically demonstrate application of own role, alongside a multi-professional team to effect positive outcomes for those with palliative and/or end of life care needs.
How you are assessed
There are two summative assessments:
- A written case-based assignment which will allow learners to critically analyse key principles of palliative care and/or end of life care through use of a patient case
- A written critical evaluation demonstrating the learners' application of own role in practice in the palliative and end of life care context.
