Advancing pedagogy
Our Pedagogical Research and Scholarship Group is dedicated to advancing pedagogy in higher education through collaborative innovation, research, and scholarly activity.
It serves as a dynamic forum where members share best practices, experiences, and ideas to enhance teaching and learning. The group provides mutual support for pedagogical research, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Through its activities, the group aims to implement and evaluate joint research and scholarship projects, striving to build a vibrant scholarly community that includes undergraduate and postgraduate students alongside academic staff.
The group's work is organized around several thematic areas that address critical challenges and opportunities in higher education. These themes include examining the enablers and barriers to supporting continuing professional development (CPD) within the clinical workforce, fostering creativity and serious play in both research and teaching, and exploring the potential of simulation-based and technology-enhanced learning to improve educational outcomes. Additionally, the group is committed to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of learners in higher education, supporting their development and success.
A core focus is the promotion of student co-production in pedagogical research and scholarship, emphasizing collaborative approaches that position students as partners in educational innovation. By investigating and implementing creative teaching strategies and utilizing emerging technologies, the group aims to develop evidence-based practices that enhance teaching effectiveness and learner engagement. Ultimately, the group seeks to inspire transformative approaches to education, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and scholarly excellence within the Institute of Population Health.
