Christie Hospital set to hold July Open Day

Published on

A key clinical placement provider for the School of Allied Health Professions and Nursing is holding an open day this month.

One of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe, the Christie Hospital has been treating patients since 1892.

The Open Day, which takes place on Saturday 20th July, will give our potential applicants, patients and members of the public the opportunity to gain a real valuable insight into how the centre operates.

Visitors will also be given a tour of their world class radiotherapy facility, including the national proton beam therapy centre which opened as the UK's first of its kind in 2019.

The centre, which has treated over 1200 patients since its inception, allows for pioneering, specialist radiotherapy treatment that targets cancers without damaging tissues around tumours.

Many of our students, especially those from our Therapeutic Radiography programme, have spent time working and continuing their development at the hospital in recent years.

The event will give those who are considering applying to study with our School a fantastic opportunity to learn more about a placement location which they may spend time at during their studies with us.

The Christie Hospital are also holding open interviews for any therapeutic radiographers who are HCPC registered, or about to become HCPC registered.
