Undergraduate accommodation discount

The University and Liverpool Guild of Students offer an accommodation discount to students living in University accommodation, if they are in receipt of the full or partial Liverpool Bursary (as well as other bursaries, such as Care Leavers).

Are you eligible for the accommodation discount?

We are pleased to confirm that the Accommodation Discount will be continuing for students living with us for 2024 Entry. 

Students who are eligible will receive a 15% discount on their Accommodation Fee. For 2024/25, this ranges between £943 to £1448 depending on your accommodation offer. 

For entry 2025, this will be 10% discount on your total first year Accommodation Fees.

As this discount is in line with eligibility for other bursaries, it will not be applied immediately to accommodation fees. If you are paying in instalments, the discount will be applied:

  • September - standard accommodation fee amount
  • January - 7.5% overall discount applied
  • April - 7.5% overall discount applied.

The discount is pro-rata - if you decide to leave University Accommodation, it will be adjusted to reflect the nights stayed only. It is only available for students living in University Owned Accommodation and not applicable to those living with our Private Providers.

If you are entitled to the Liverpool Bursary, at either the higher or lower level, and will be living in University accommodation, you will also receive an accommodation discount. For entry 2024, this is 15% off your first year University halls fees.

You don't need to apply for this bursary. By submitting an online application for government grants or loans, you consent to share your information with the University. This allows our Student Fees team to assess your eligibility. You'll be notified if you're eligible to receive this bursary.

The Accommodation Discount Guidelines

Academic Year 2024/25

1. Scope of the Guideline

1.1. These regulations apply to Undergraduate Students who are in receipt of one of the qualifying awards, listed below and who are living in University of Liverpool accommodation for the full accommodation contract of 39, 42 or 51 weeks.

1.2. Qualifying Award:

  • The Liverpool Bursary
  • The Care Leavers’ Opportunity Bursary
  • The Liverpool Scholars’ Award
  • The Realising Opportunities Award
  • The North Liverpool Academy Scholarship
  • The Liverpool Life Sciences University Technical College Scholarship
  • The Mature Students’ Bursary
  • The Estranged Students’ Bursary
  • The Young Adult Carers’ Bursary.

1.3. The Halls of Residence included for the Accommodation Discount are:

  • Crown Place
  • Dover Court
  • Greenbank Student Village
  • Melville Grove
  • Philharmonic Court
  • Tudor Close
  • Vine Court.

2. The Accommodation Discount

2.1. For Academic Year 2024/25 the Accommodation Discount will be a value of 15% of your total accommodation fee.

2.2. As this discount is in line with eligibility for other bursaries, it will not be applied immediately to accommodation fees. If you are paying in instalments, the discount will be applied:

  • September - standard accommodation fee amount
  • January - 7.5% overall discount applied
  • April - 7.5% overall discount applied.

2.3. Where students have paid their accommodation fee in full at the start of the academic year, the Accommodation Discount will be allocated against your accommodation fee and you will be contacted regarding a refund.

3. Additional Information

3.1. Where a scholarship or bursary is dependent on household income and, as a result of a change in income or a reassessment of the income, the student ceases to be entitled to the Liverpool Bursary, they will be required to pay the full Accommodation Fee. If their entitlement to the scholarship or bursary reduced, the full Accommodation Discount will still be applied.

3.2. Where a student leaves University of Liverpool accommodation before the end of their contract, their eligibility for the Accommodation Discount will be reduced pro rata to the accommodation fee charged with inclusion of the 28 day notice period.
